Breaking News and What to Wear

Picture
What to pack and wear?  Albuquerque in the summer is warm (expect 80s to low 90s), but there is little humidity.  We recommend resort wear during the tours and excursions, dress in light layers and bring a light jacket in case of a cool evening after the sun sets. Bring sunscreen and a hat as sometimes you may be out in the sun and heat.  The afternoons may be warm, but evenings are usually comfortable. Albuquerque is a mile high in elevation, and Santa Fe is 7200 feet and if you participate in the Sandia Tramway tour Sandia crest tops out at 10,700 ft.  Please be aware of adjusting to altitude change if you travelled from sea level.  Be sure you drink lots of water, no excuses, it is important to stay hydrated!

Tuesday is our Driving tour to beautiful Santa Fe, NM.  Lunch will be at the wonderful Tomasita’s restaurant.  Santa Fe is known as “The City Different.” You are sure to enjoy this wonderful city, it is amazing.
Wednesday afternoon is the 10th Gathering of The Cadillac Queens, hosted by Marsha Redman.  This year’s theme is “Older, Wiser and Hotter!”  Yes, this is our 10th gathering, so we will celebrate with birthday Cake! This will be a wonderful time to meet the attending “Queens,” and to get reacquainted with old friends and make new ones.

We are excited to have a meet and greet with our special guest, GM Designer Dennis Little.  Mr. Little will be sharing pictures and stories about his 30 career with General Motors. He had design projects with Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet and Cadillac, and also worked with the team at Pininfarina Design.  He was Chief Designer of the Cadillac Design Studio.

The Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening will be a little different this year.  It is called “Fiesta de Cadillac & LaSalle.  We have planned a casual evening with music, entertainment, food and dancing.  Dress is business casual, NO shorts, tee shirts, or flip flops!  We are working hard to provide you with an enjoyable evening with a New Mexican flair!

Thursday evening will be the Soiree, If you were one of the 110 that signed up, you will be enjoying a wonderful evening starting at Tom & Roy’s to see their wonderful Cadillac memorabilia.  Then onto Nick and Asimina’s to see his eclectic car collection and have some Greek fare.

Friday evening, join us for a fabulously entertaining audio-visual presentation by YouTube and internet sensation Charles Phoenix!  You must have a ticket to attend. His presentation is guaranteed to be a joyful celebration of classic cars and Americana.  (Charles will also be with us throughout the week and on the show field looking at cars.)  After the show, we go behind the hotel to the pavilion for Cars Under the Stars: Taillights and Twilight.  Enjoy some social time and dance to a DJ like no one is watching while enjoying cocktails from a cash bar!  GN co-chair Nick Manole will show off moves that you cannot unwatch, so enjoy those cocktails!

Of course, Saturday is the big day to show off your Cadillac or LaSalle and enjoy all of the vehicles on the show field.  Our finale is the awards banquet.  Enjoy entertainment as you settle in for the evening with dinner and celebrate our winners!  Dress is business casual minimum, shirt and tie is recommended, NO shorts, tee shirts, or flip flops!
